Quality Assurance
Groov-Pin Corporation and its subsidiary Precision Turned Components (PTC) operate from ISO 9001-2008 certified facilities in Smithfield, RI and Newnan, GA along with field application offices located around the U.S.

History of Innovation
The company was founded in 1926 to develop the potential for a patented press fit fastener called a grooved pin. Today our lines of these solid pin fasteners find applications in a wide range of inventories from automotive to aerospace, electronics to energy, defense to dental. They are made in our GA facility on machines of our own design from wire of carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel  and a variety of other materials. Groov-Pin took a leading role in developing both commercial and military standards for grooved pins and also supports the production of custom designs.

In the 1950’s, Groov-Pin developed threaded inserts and installation equipment used to provide strong permanent threads in soft metals and plastics. Called Tap-lok, these solid busing inserts install in one step in drilled or cored holes, by tapping their way into a wide range of base materials. The Tap-lok insert was originally developed to reinforce aluminum die-castings but has found use in magnesium, mild steels, and thermo-set plastics. They are made in our GA facility on screw machines from metal bars. In soft base materials, the inserts allow designers to take advantage of the full strength of high-tensile fasteners for lower cost and greater clamping pressures.

In mid-90’s Groov-Pin acquired the Speedserts line of inserts from Fairchild Fasteners (now Alcoa) to compliment its lines of self-tapping inserts. Groov-Pin led in the development of a military standard for Tap-loks. Both Tap-loks and Speedserts are among the few inserts approved by the military for future designs.

In the late 90’s Groov-Pin acquired Precision Turned Components a contract machining business. The company developed its specials capability and expanded into telecommunications applications. PTC is a recognized leader in the manufacturing of components for microwave connectors and related high precision components. Through the Groov-Pin sales force, the customer base has been expanded to include many of the industries also served with engineered fasteners.
